Carpet and Flooring solutions from Calder Valley Flooring
Sometimes, as other local businesses know, the challenge of running a small business can be tough. Not so long back a lady came into our store looking for a new kitchen floor. After discussing her requirements, we were able to offer various options and she whittled her selection down to two. A measure was booked in and from that we produced two quotations for her consideration. The lady returned to our store and after viewing our ranges and decided to take a few sample books home to try. She returned to say she had found the perfect floor but……and here’s the but.
The woman went on to explain she had looked on the internet for the product to find out that she could purchase the floor cheaper than what we could offer. Frustratingly, this was true. The internet is great at times and we all use it on a regular basis these days. However, what it doesn’t do is provide you with the service and support that is required when making such a necessary purchase. We aim to give the best possible advice on what would be most suited for your home, and quality and great service to ensure the customer is happy for many years to come.
Nonetheless, the lady amazingly wanted to support her local business and went ahead with the order. When it came to installation, she was able to leave a key and we carried out the installation whilst she was away from the property. Unknowingly until the day, the floor was damp when the existing floor was lifted. In most case scenarios this would have been left if purchased elsewhere, especially if it was bought offline and the fitters were not local. However, this wasn’t an issue for us, as we were able to dry the area whilst on another job locally and return later that day once the floor had dried out.
There are times when the Internet can be a detriment to us local businesses. What we can offer which I strongly feel money can not buy is the ability to touch and feel, take samples home and have the expert advice that the customer so rightly deserves. We warrant all our products, we have the ability to do so because we control the purchase and installation. We know where your floor has been and the quality checks that have been carried out prior to delivery.
We invest so much time and money in stands, training, and facilities so that we can offer you the best service possible. Annoyingly, and believe me, I have had my fair share of moans and groans with our suppliers as they charge for stands and samples, even the updates and new ranges. Supporting local means staying local, we were able to go that extra mile and give the service required for this particular job because we were local and trusted.
